Emergency Medicine Interest Group at UICOMP
The Emergency Medicine Interest Group of UICOMP seeks to build awareness within the student body of issues related to emergency medicine, both as a career and as a community service. We are student run and faculty mentored and our doors are open to anyone who is interested regardless of future career plans. Welcome!
Ultrasound Course
The Emergency Medicine Residency Program at UICOMP runs a biannual 2 week ultrasound course for residents. Medical students at UICOMP have the unique opportunity to participate in this course and learn the invaluable skill of bedside ultrasound. Students are invited to attend the course and have the chance to be scanned themselves. The ultrasound course is held twice a year, once in September and once in January.
EM Shadowing
The EM shadowing program is designed to introduce second and third year medical students to emergency medicine early in their medical school training. Meet physicians and get a sense for whether you might want to spend your career in the ED. It does not require a formal commitment and you are encouraged to stop by the department whenever you have a free hour or two.
Changing the Future of Emergency Medicine
Life Flight, CPR enhancement techniques, and car seat safety are just a few of the projects that UICOMP medical stuents are working on right now. Help change the future of emergency medicine by getting involved with current research projects in the field of emergency medicine
