Event and Disaster Medicine

As an emergency medicine resident at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, you will have the opportunity to participate with the IDPH Region 2 Medical Emergency Response Team when it deploys to large events and disasters.  Every year, we help cover the RMERT medical tents at Summer Camp, a rock festival that brings nearly 20,000 people to Three Sister Park.  In November 2013, we deployed with the RMERT to Washington, IL after an EF-4 tornado hit the town, and we staffed a clinic at the Washington Fire House 24/7 for the first week of the recovery effort.  You will also have the opportunity to cover local sporting events as a moonlighter with our Special Events Team beginning in the PGY-2 year.
