"Big city hospital" without the hassles of living in a big city.  All the advantages of a community-based/University training program, as well as those of a large tertiary referral center.

New, state-of-the-art Emergency Department, opened August 2010!  Includes 57 treatment rooms, large Trauma/Resuscitation rooms, in-department radiology, all key-carded private patient rooms.

A well-structured, stable program with strong clinical training and emphasis on your education and professional growth.

Program accepts 12 residents per year.

Level 1 Trauma Center for Central Illinois Region.

Over 86,000 annual Emergency Department visits.  Excellent patient mix (20-25% pediatrics) and broad range of pathology reflecting the Peoria community and our Central Illinois Referral Center base.

High patient acuity, over 20% of Emergency Department patients are admitted to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center.

Active Life Flight Helicopter Program, with over 1400 flights per year (busiest in Illinois).  Residents participate in the Life Flight Program throughout their 3 years.

Base station hospital for a large EMS system in Central Illinois.  Approximately 20% of ED patients arrive by ambulance.

EPIC hospital wide EMR, allowing fully computerized charting, order entry and patient tracking.

Full Departmental status within the Medical Center, with responsibility for administration of Emergency Medical Services in the Medical Center and surrounding region.

Regional referral center for programs, including: Invasive Cardiology, Neurosurgery, Heart and Kidney Transplantation, High Risk Neonatology and Obstetrics, and the Children's Hospital of Illinois.
